Our Blog

At Divani we place a very high value, not only on each and every customer, but also on all of our employees who dedicate a great deal of their time to make our restaurant such a success. We know that we have hired the best people possible, and by introducing them we hope that you will be inspired to make them a part of your next dining experience.

The first sever we would like to officially recognize is Michael Stickel. He has lived in Grand Rapids for two years, and greatly enjoys the "pace of life out here." He likes the "little big city" aspect, as everything feels close together.

Michael StickelWhat's your zodiac sign?

If you were to win a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I would move out of Michigan and travel everywhere.

Where are your ultimate travel destinations?
I want to travel anywhere and everywhere, but mainly the Lombardi region of Northern Italy because of the countryside, and France.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Take my dog to the park, play guitar, and listen to music; anything from jazz to rock.

If you could be a celebrity for a day who would it be?
I would be Jerry Seinfield because he's rich as hell and hilarious.

What shows are you currently watching?
I just finished up Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which was hilarious, and I'm planning on my next Netflix binge being Parks & Rec. I also love food documentaries like Mind of a Chef and stand up comic specials from Aziz Ansari.

Michael is fully versed in the Bar Divani experience so don't be afraid to ask him about his favorite dishes. He enjoys the small plate of Butternut Squash Pierogies and the Scottish Salmon entrée, and pairs them with an Italian wine or his favorite cocktail, The Last Word.

Grand Rapids Skyline, nightA special part of Grand Rapids that should surely not be taken for granted is the abundance of local restaurants we have. As long as your mind is open to trying something new, that unique local restaurant you eat at might just house one of the best dining experiences you’ve ever had. But you might be asking yourself, why should I support a local restaurant instead of that familiar chain down the street?

Chain restaurants offer a level of convenience that allows them to be an obvious choice for a night out on the town. They stand out in your mind because they are everywhere, and the service is standardized so that every time you go you know what you’re in for. This is all well and good, but what Bar Divani prides itself on is the fact that we are not just offering you a service, but an experience with us. At a chain restaurant, you feel rushed and like you have to finish your meal as soon as possible in order for the next party to come in. But we don’t just want you to come in to eat and be on your way. We want you to embrace the atmosphere we provide, from the more than comfortable seating to the upbeat music playing in the background. Once you sit down with your family and friends and get a feel for our laid back ambiance, you will want to dedicate a great part of your evening here. Bar Divani lures you in and keeps you here for a night of laughs and fun times to enjoy.

As compared to a chain restaurant where a manager will come check on you maybe once out of the ten times you go there, at Bar Divani, the owners maintain a consistent presence in the restaurant. You’re not just getting to know our food, but you’re also getting to know us, and we hope that you leave with a memorable, incomparable experience. Don’t just settle for the convenient service; become acquainted with Bar Divani and all that we have to offer our guests. Between our unbeatable atmosphere and excellent menu selection, you won’t regret your decision to skip out on that restaurant chain!

Reservations for Bar Divani are accepted at www.opentable.com, or by calling 616.774.9463, but are not required.
